Background Notes
Although the first Touchdown System based on the CBP City Business System Dealerboard had been in
service with British Caledonian since the 22nd March 1984, the formal launch was to take place at the
Comms 84 Exhibition in Birmingham with Staff from BCAL taking control of the realtime live BCAL Gatwick
Operation from the NEC in Birmingham. In preparation for this the BCAL, CBP and BCAL Staff were given
time to train and prepare for this remote (and demanding) operation with equipment setup in the British
Caledonian Training Centre near to Gatwick.
